Yes we are moving in to the summer runs in the country side instead of running around the dark street of maidstone. Brilliant - it's about time we got out into the country, it's what I look forward to when running around Maidstone in the dark all winter.

it's also potentially a time when people can get lost. Less street name signs, more country paths and lanes etc. It's not just the new members who are at risk, I seem to remember some of our more long standing members wandering off course last year.

We might do this already, but we should ensure new members take a copy of the map with them, and maybe there could be some versions of the maps with written directions on the back, as it's not always easy to follow the summer routes, as you say.

Having a copy of the map is one thing, but I distinctly remember watching a group sail past a footpath they should have taken, and running off in the direction of the Good Intent. I think they did about 9 miles that evening, as they were oblivious to our cires to turn around. This was the week after a number of others put in a 10-miler (but I was not there that evening).
