Hello everyone, I hope the week is being kind to you.
Championship Team Bronze at Cliffe Woods 10K
Our girls performed well at Cliffe Woods 10K and brought home the team bronze. Well done to Sharon Hawkins, Sharon Barnett and Hannah Milford. Julie Stoppani finished one second behind Hannah but with only three finishers to count missed out on the prize.
There were no prizes for the men but they did well with Nathan Chapman leading us home from Graham Clarkson and Aaron Hughes.
Sharon Hawkins overtook Kerrie Clarke (Medway & Maidstone) and held off a late challenge from Annabelle Stearns (Gravesend RR) thanks to some colleauges urging her on - both from younger age groups - to sprint to the finish and take the bronze medal overall. She also won the gold medal for the V45-54 age group. Sharon said she almost 'threw up' at the finish because of the effort she had to put in. Gosh it's tough at the front.
For more detailed information refer to Club Championship 2009 and the results posted by Andy Burgess.
Well done to everyone that took part, it was a warm day and we were running into a breeze on the way back. I think everyone I have spoken to did a good time going out but was slower for the second half.
Also well done to all those that attained a pb (I remember those once upon a time). It is not a course to achieve a pb on because the second half is slightly uphill and did you notice that the second half was longer. Look at your splits for 6- 7k and 9-10K - some of the Garmins measured the course as 10.2K
Club Championship 2009
The following is list of the remaining club championship races.
26 Jul - Harlow 10
22 Sep - Folkestone Half*
11 Oct - Petts Wood 10K
06 Dec - Thanet 10
The asterisked items are those that are either County Championship or Grand Prix. A county Championship event is generally a Grand Prix event
July/August Diary
Remember every Thursday evening; Nigel is organising speed work out the back of the club house at 7.15. It is good for you, something different every week and it is good fun. It was interesting last week watching members cope with skipping ropes. You could see that it has been a few years since some of them had done that – amazing how the ladies seemed to cope well.

Wednesday’s Route
By popular demand we are doing Linton Church run again and there should be enough light for everyone to get back at least into street lights before it gets dark. Do take the opportunity to stop – you have permission - and take in the view across the Weald after you have crossed the footbridge (it is sidelong ground and difficult to run along anyway). Jan & I will be providing a drink station at Linton Church.
Linton Church
Left along Armstrong Rd, left at the roundabout up Postley Rd through to the footway. Continue up the footway (mind the stones), go into the right-hand bend, turn immediately left and carry on to Cripple St. Cross over Cripple St into the footway opposite and follow the footpath through to Kirkdale and down to the stream in Loose. Turn right then left to cross over Busbridge Rd into Well St. Run up Well St to the sharp right hand bend and go over the stile in the corner into the (horses) field. Keeping the hedge/tree line to your left, go up the field to cross over another stile into a crop field. Turn left and follow the edge of the field to go over another stile into Heath Rd. Turn left and then immediately right into Vanity Lane.
Run along Vanity Lane and go down the hill until you see a footbridge over the top of the road (in the trees). Go up the steps on right, cross over the footbridge. You are now on the Greensand Way so go across the field, run through the wooded area (can go round to the left by the polytunnels if path is blocked) and go across a second field to Linton Hill. Cross over the road into the drive down to Linton Church. Go through the gate, through the churchyard into Linton Park, cross over the long drive (see the white mansion down to your right) and continue on to cross over Loddington Lane. Continue on the Greensand Way through the orchards to Boughton Church and turn left up Church Hill through to Heath Rd.
Cross over Heath Rd, run down Church St past Boughton Green, down Beresford Hill and at the bottom go right then left to go up Bottlescrew Hill. Turn left at the junction to run along Boughton Lane and on into Pheasant Lane to come out by the Wheatsheaf. Cross over the Loose Rd, turn right, then first left by the motor cycle garage which is North View to come in the top of the park. Run through the park back to the gate in Armstrong Rd.
8 miles
Heath Road
Turn left and continue along Heath Rd. Cross over Linton Rd at the traffic lights and continue along Heath Rd until the crossroads by the zebra crossing. Turn left down Church Street joining the main route.
6.5 miles
