Hi all, I hope you are all having a great Christmas break.
Sorry Chairchat is a bit late, but I was awaiting an update on this Sunday’s KFL event.
Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to run because of the weather – you will soon make up for it. Also don’t worry about what you have eaten between Christmas and the New Year – be more worried about what you eat between the New Year and Christmas.
Don’t forget Oxleas Wood is on this Sunday
I just want to confirm that Oxleas Wood cross-country is definitely on this Sunday at the moment. I am in contact with Rob Bright and should things change I will let you know. He has sent me the following message:-
At this time, I am reasonably confident about the weekend weather – snow wise. However, it is likely to be very cold and the main issue may be frozen ground. I think I have a contact number for every club rep on my telephone except for Invicta, Istead and New Etlham. I will send out emails and text messages right up until Sunday morning if there is any problem.
So if nothing changes, Jan & I will meet up with you at the cafe at the top of the park. We will definitely be going as we will be visiting our eldest son & family who live about a mile away.
If anyone wants directions I can email them a copy of the map, post code & instructions I produced just before Christmas.
Christmas Social
I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas social; it was a great evening and made a change from running. I would like to say thank you to Sarah Brenton & Jo Anne-Creed for arranging this.
New Members
With the increase in membership, I have the pleasure most weeks of introducing new members to the club. One of the difficulties is finding someone for them to run with as quite often they are not sure of their pace or how far they can run. It has been suggested that perhaps we could set up a group of volunteers who are prepared to take it turns to look after the new members for the first couple of weeks.
The nine who have volunteered so far are:-
Di Wright
Peter Foxall
Matt Fraser
Graham Pearson
Russell Morling
Sharon Barnett
Mathew Barnett
Rosie McMahon
Alan Probert
If I have missed anyone off please let me know or if anyone else would like to volunteer, again please let me know. Many thanks.
I think come the new year we will have an intake of prospective new members.
Club Championship 2010
I know many of you are already planning your next year’s itinerary so it looks like the first event of the new season will be:-

A passing thought
An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves. ~Bill Vaughan
Can I please take this opportunity to wish you all and your families a happy and healthy New Year for 2010.
Please take care, be safe and see you soon.
