Hello everyone.
The Harriers Loco-motion winds it way out of the club – It’s Party Time at the Awards Evening!!!!
It was time to let the hair down on Saturday as 70 harriers and guests enjoyed themselves at the awards evening. It was a fun packed evening as we handed out trophies, enjoyed an excellent buffet and danced the night away till the early hours of the following morning.
The evening was the annual opportunity to congratulate those who had been successful over the previous year and to say thank you to those who had supported and provided a service to the club.
The high quality of running throughout the year was matched only by the high quality of the dancing. Once again it was evident and has been said to me on many times – the Harriers really know how to enjoy themselves. The highlight had to be the site of 30 or more harriers snaking their way out of the party to Little Eva’s ‘Loco-motion’ – I don’t know where they went to but they seemed to be gone a long time. There are some excellent photos on Facebook of Harriers in crazy ‘John Travolta’ poses. I think we should get them onto the website for everyone’s enjoyment.
My thanks to everyone who assisted in putting the event on – it was an excellent evening. Also, thank you to all those that turned up to either collect trophies or enjoy the occasion.

Well done to all those that attained an award, you worked hard for it and thoroughly deserved your trophy.
As I always say, if you didn’t receive anything, never mind there is always next year and remember that in the club championship those that won will have to work harder because not only will they have to lead the races home but they will have to achieve personal best times.
Remaining KFL Race
For the final event there is a return to Swanley on the 14th March where the course will be changed to avoid repeating the route back in November. There will be no relay this year as it is important that we get 7 races in to complete the competition. However, there will be free food afterwards at pre-planned social event in the nearby Alexandra suite.
May be for the final event we can get an even larger turn-out than before and if you have never done a KFL XC, now is your chance because this is an easy course.
London Marathon Coach 2010
I expect you have all seen the message on the board from Bob that the coach is now full.
New Members
With the increase in membership, I have the pleasure most weeks of introducing new members to the club. One of the difficulties is finding someone for them to run with as quite often they are not sure of their pace or how far they can run. It has been suggested that perhaps we could set up a group of volunteers who are prepared to take it turns to look after the new members for the first couple of weeks.
The ten who have volunteered so far are: -
Di Wright
Peter Foxall
Matt Fraser
Graham Pearson
Russell Morling
Sharon Barnett
Mathew Barnett
Alan Probert
Sarah Brenton
If I have missed anyone off please let me know or if anyone else would like to volunteer, again please let me know. Many thanks.

A passing thought
There was a lot of dancing on Saturday evening from the Harriers, so what could be more appropriate.
“It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer.” ~Shanna LaFleur
There were certainly plenty of athletes on the floor – as for artists, well it rather depends on what sort doesn’t it?
Take care all of you, be safe and I look forward to seeing you later.
