I do tend to agree with mrtivoliblue in that the routes are so much more complicated now. I can't run this evening but have seen the route and find that I have run the route stated on many occasion, but only realised this after reading and re-reading it as it wasn't very clear. It used to be extremely useful to know what the route was going to be on the evening before, as this allowed people to make plans, whether they could run there and home, or if they have other commitments they could work out where to cut the route short if they need to get home earlier. I do wonder whether new members will be put off by the seemingly complicated routes. They are fun but if people don't know the area, it could prove a very stressful run.

A blast from the past this week, as it's the time of the year when daylight hours are at their longest we're running an old favourite route that takes us along the Greensands Way with great views out across the Weald Linton ChurchLeft along Armstrong Rd, left at the roundabout up Postley Rd through to the footway. Continue up the footway (mind the stones), go into the right-hand bend, turn immediately left and carry on to Cripple St. Cross over Cripple St into the footway opposite and follow the footpath through to Kirkdale and down to the stream in Loose. Turn right then left to cross over Busbridge Rd into Well St. Run up Well St to the sharp right hand bend and go over the stile in the corner into the (horses) field. Keeping the hedge/tree line to your left, go up the field to cross over another stile into a crop field. Turn left and follow the edge of the field to go over another stile into Heath Rd. Turn left and then immediately right into Vanity Lane. Run along Vanity Lane and go down the hill until you see a footbridge over the top of the road (in the trees). Go up the steps on right, cross over the footbridge. You are now on the Greensand Way so go across the field, run through the wooded area (can go round to the left and bypass if path is blocked) and go across a second field to Linton Hill. Cross over the road into the drive down to Linton Church. Go through the gate, through the churchyard into Linton Park, cross over the long drive (see the white mansion down to your right) and continue on to cross over Loddington Lane. Continue on the Greensand Way through the orchards to Boughton Church and turn left up Church Hill through to Heath Rd. Cross over Heath Rd, run down Church St past Boughton Green, down Beresford Hill and at the bottom go right then left to go up Bottlescrew Hill. Turn left at the junction to run along Boughton Lane and on into Pheasant Lane to come out by the Wheatsheaf. Cross over the Loose Rd, turn right, then first left by the motor cycle garage which is North View to come in the top of the park. Run through the park back to the gate in Armstrong Rd. 8 milesHeath RoadTurn left and continue along Heath Rd. Cross over Linton Rd at the traffic lights and continue along Heath Rd until the crossroads by the zebra crossing. Turn left down Church Street joining the main route. 6.5 miles

Unfortunately I cannot be there tomorrow, so I shall miss this - and it's my favourite Summer run. Can we do it again in a couple of weeks' time?

The Greensand Way is a great route. Have any of you tried incorporating into you long runs. From the club you go up river to Yalding. If you want u can go along the Greensand Way to Linton. Great views all the way. Or if you go other way along the Greensand Way past Pizen Well past back of Kings Hill, Wateringbury via Oaken Wood. Again good views and historic buildings!
