Hey all, Swimming open water starts in April but the lake wont warm up till may time unless we have a hot april Before you swim in the lake you will need to do a swim test witch can be found at www.teamoutrageous.com and is done by mike russell think the cost is £35ish but then thats for life , what you pay for is a saftey swim test , were you need to be able to swim 400m in a wetsuit make sure your ok in open water etc . Its then £5 a swim but thats for all day again i think a great idea would be pick a date as a group and get every one tested at the same time and then i could take a group around the lake . For people worring about open water please DON'T i love it and again happy to go fround with people , I have been a lifeguard for over 11 years and still do it so your be very safe . again put your name down in here with your email adress and we can start sorting out

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the update. I am definitely interested in doing open water swimming as soon as it starts up. Although £35 sounds a lot for a swimming test. Is this a nationally/universally recognised certificate or just something you have to do to use Leybourne lakes. If you are certified at other venues can you use Leybourne?
Also, did you manage to get any further regarding lane hire at Larkfield for coaching sessions?
Cheers,
Mike.

yes you have to pay that £35 at the lake every one that swims there has to do a swim test. No you cant do the test anywere else and No its not a recognised ceriticate you are given a I.D card with ur own number thats urs then for life,
As for the lane hire at larkfied i did find out the cost for 1 line per an hour but at the moment with so much of my own work on i have not spoken to any one about when there is free spare time to book the lanes as of yet ,

Hi,
I'm interested in this but at the moment I wouldn't consider myself a very strong swimmer. I'm improving because I'm practising more as I would like to attempt a triathlon. New to Maidstone area and am unfamiliar with the location of this lake. Where is it and is it far from Maidstone?
Thanks Lisa P.S I would like to get in contact with some triathletes here in the Maidstone area to take part in some group brick training sessions so any leads would be hugely appreciated. Thanks Lisa Nonetheless my April I'm hoping that I'll be a better swimmer.
